The best waterparks in the UK for your Easter holiday consideration
While the Easter holidays are not as renowned for being as hot and sunny as the summer holidays, there has been a definite uptick in UK temperatures over recent years and, as a result, more families are looking for ways to cool off and keep the kids entertained this April. Rather than relying on their home water filters to keep their kids cool and clean this year, they’re taking them to the local waterpark.
A waterpark, with its vast array of slides, loungers and other themed attractions, seems like the perfect solution and while it might lack the sheer amount of water parks seen in the US and the Mediterranean, the UK has a handful of great water parks that offer thrilling water rides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and more.
Here are seven best waterparks located across the country that you might want to consider visiting this Easter break.
Alton Towers Waterpark – Staffordshire
Alton Towers Waterpark is one of the UK’s most popular attractions. Attached to the world-famous theme park and hotel, it offers a range of water rides, including the Master Blaster water coaster, which takes riders on a thrilling ride through a series of banks, twists and turns. The park also has a wave pool, lazy river, and splash area for younger children, so is fun for all the family.
Waterworld – Stoke-on-Trent
Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent is the UK’s largest indoor water park and can hold its own against some of the best in the world. It has over 30 water rides and attractions, including a thrilling space bowl ride, a black hole slide, and a wave pool. The park also has a toddler pool and a dedicated area for younger children, as well as a thrilling water coaster.
Sandcastle Waterpark – Blackpool
While not quite as ambitious as Waterworld, Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool has over 18 water slides and attractions, including the world’s longest indoor water slide. The park also has the usual wave pools and lazy rivers, but its real USP is how close it is to the beach. Why not take a long weekend and enjoy the beach, the waterpark and the Pleasure Beach theme park?
Splashdown – Dorset
Splashdown offers both indoor and outdoor attractions. It has 13 thrilling water slides, including the famous Space Bowl and Mississippi Drifter. The park also has a wave pool, rapids, and a toddler pool. One of the founding attractions of the Tower Park leisure complex, it’s a great day out if you’re staying in Devon for the week.
Brean Splash Waterpark – Somerset
A fantastic water park located at Brean Leisure Park near Burnham on Sea that offers both indoor and outdoor attractions, Break Splash has six water slides, including the Screamer and the Space Bowl. The park also has a wave pool, a lazy river, and a toddler pool. It might be a little smaller and less extreme than others on the list but that makes it ideal for younger families.
Blue Lagoon Water Park – Pembrokeshire
Blue Lagoon Water Park in Pembrokeshire is a tropical-themed waterpark with four thrilling water slides, including the Black Hole and the Torpedo. The park also has a wave pool, lazy river, and a toddler pool but the real draw is the subtropical atmosphere it manages to create. You might even be fooled into thinking you’re on a Caribbean holiday!
