This is a comment we hear quite a lot from customers who have fridges with water filters or “triflow”/three way taps with a water filter.

The filters generally supplied with these systems only remove the chlorine in the water and any sediment that may be present from the distribution pipework.

This will make the water taste better but they do nothing to remove the dissolved impurities such as hardness which then causes scale build up in your kettle.

The only filters which remove hardness are a Reverse Osmosis system or a dealkalising filter, such as a Kinetico 9000 which acts in the same way as a filter jug, although much more conveniently.
